This Case study comprises of an extension and refurbishment project at Plume School in Maldon. Project Phase 1 involved phased replacement of existing asbestos cladding and crittal windows with new aluminium windows and cedar cladding in conjunction with the installation of Brise Soleil shading systems to the south facing elevation. The majority of works to this phase was completed during term time and required sensitive programming in conjunction with the school to ensure that disruption to daily activities was avoided.
Project Phase 2 comprised of the construction of a new student entrance and sectional refurbishment and hand-over of the adjacent administration areas to a strict programme. The new entrance incorporates curtain walling and cedar cladding to the external envelope to match the adjacent teaching block.
