Case study project comprises a large purpose built swimming pool building to a very restricted site at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Barnet. The building brief consisted of a large span timber glulam structure and King-Zip standing seam roof housing a large high specification swimming pool, viewing balcony, extensive changing room and shower facilities together with adjacent teaching facilities.
The building features a highly technical ‘Building Management System’ designed to allow close control of the building environment. The specialist swimming pool includes a moveable floor to 50% of its area to provide suitable facilities for learners and disabled children and also allows international polo events to be held to the complete pool area which is complemented by a large capacity viewing gallery.
