Case Study comprises of two separate buildings at opposite ends of the Capel Manor College site which provide significant expansion to teaching facilities at this well respected and leading education establishment for animal, botanical and environmental studies.
Alongside these two buildings it was necessary for the infrastructure to be upgraded including the co-ordination of a new electrical substation and the routing and installation of new sub-main electrical services around the vast college site.
The Animal Care Building comprises of the Design and Build of a three storey animal care facility to the northern boundary of the college site bordering the M25 motorway. The initial construction activities were meticulously organised to avoid a number of high level power cables, which could not be moved and an exclusion zone was carefully managed by our management team to ensure safe working distances were observed and maintained throughout the project (particularly during piling, construction of the steel frame and during the installation and adaption of scaffolding).
The project incorporated high specification Kawneer acoustic windows and curtain walling, which were specially procured for this project. We were advised that this project was only the second in the UK to receive this particular Kawneer Specification and was specified in order to prevent noise ingress from the adjacent motorway. The building was designed and built to complement the nearby buildings with incorporation of painted weatherboarding and internally was fitted out with state of the art equipment to provide students with the best possible facilities for a wealth of studies. The building also included the fitting out of a dog grooming parlour, which we understand is also open to the general public.
The second building comprises of the design and build of a two storey Arboricultural Building at the opposite side of the college site. This included similar specifications to the Animal Care Building with the addition of a climbing structure within the full height internal space to provide the college with a training facility for students studying arboriculture. The building also includes a workshop for training students with the practical use of chainsaws and a classbase to the first floor for theoretical studies.
