CM Cadman & Son
 

The Business was originally formed in 1932 by the original founder Mr C M Cadman, who commenced the firm as general family builders with his younger brother Mr L R Cadman and the initial assistance of their father Mr H Cadman a former Master Builder.

The Family business continued as House Builders together with general building works until the commenement of the Second World War, where upon it temporarily ceased trading and recommenced as "C M Cadman Master Builder" in early 1946 and continued expanding as General Buildings until 1966 when his son M J Cadman was made a partner and the name was changed to C M Cadman & Son.

This building partnership added speculative housing and commercial ventures to the company's already comprehensive range of building activities and the business expanded rapidly between 1966 and 1975 when the original founder C M Cadman retired and the business continued as M J Cadman trading as C M Cadman & Son.

With the business turnover at this point well exceeding 4 million pounds and a direct labour force of 200 employees.  The private Building Business in 1975 formed a new Private Limited Company namely The C M Cadman Group Limited and through the following five years transferred the large construction and civil works over to the newly formed company and its subsidiaries and reverted back to its original building activities of that of a general family business.

Through the following years up to 1994 / 1995 the sole business of M J Cadman T/A C M Cadman & Son, concentrated its main activities on building maintenance contracts, and day to day building repairs, alterations and extensions, continuing its specialised Joinery Manufacturing division, together with its highly specialised refurbishment and renovation division, thus building up an even wider reputation with such Clients as various Government Departments, Local Authorities, English Heritage, The National trust and Banks and Building Societies.

With the commencement of 1995 seeing the beginning of the end of the long drawn out recession, the business contract section was restructured bringing in the Third Generation of members of the two sides of The Cadman Family and whilst continuing to trade in the same name resumed its original role in General Building Construction carrying out the Building Contracts for The C M Cadman Group Limited and its subsidiary Cadman Construction Limited (Formerly Cadman Design & Build (Colchester)) Limited in a sub-contractor role whilst still retaining the specialist departments and divisions within the business. 
A role that has continued successfully up to the present day.
